Shawn Smith brings a lifelong passion for hospitality and culinary excellence to his work with Mazzone Hospitality.
Shawn began his career in hospitality at just 15 years old, working in local restaurants, washing dishes, and preparing food. Although he explored other career paths early on, he consistently found his way back to the restaurant industry, where his passion truly lies.
He earned his culinary degree along with a pastry certificate from Schenectady County Community College. Following graduation, Shawn continued to refine his skills in several respected local establishments, including Glen Sanders Mansion and the Hall of Springs with Mazzone Hospitality. He later served as Executive Chef at Victory Café in Albany before taking on the role of Lead Food Service Supervisor at Ellis Hospital.
In 2013, Shawn rejoined the Mazzone Hospitality family as Executive Chef to open the Regeneron account. He has led the foodservice program at Regeneron since the opening of the original café in Building 85, growing it into a successful multi-unit operation. Over the years, his leadership and expertise have supported his progression from Executive Chef to Director of Operations and into his current role as Resident District Manager.
Shawn takes pride in creating memorable dining experiences and finds fulfillment in seeing guests enjoy great food in welcoming spaces. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, exploring new cuisines, golfing, and participating in outdoor activities.
